Refuse to be Discouraged

Your little acts are not little.

Your efforts are worth it.

I refuse to be discouraged.

Just a little "Thank You"

Sorry I haven't written for a while. Busy times.

I went through the temple this last weekend and received my endowments. It was quite the experience. It has increased my faith in God and in myself.

A lot has been on my mind for these last few weeks, and I'm not really sure how to put into words what I've experienced. Satan has been working really hard to keep me from going on a mission on through the temple. He knows he can't shake my faith in Jesus Christ, so he aims for my faith in myself instead.

I'm so thankful to my Mommy and Daddy and all that they do for me. Both of them have been there throughout all the ups and downs of me choosing to serve a mission. Those ups and downs are still present, and my parents' are still incredibly supportive.

I'm thankful to my grandparents, my brother, my sisters, their husbands, and their kids in their support as well. It's been great to have so much family to rely on.

And I'm thankful to my closest friends. I love you all so much!

"Start spreading the news. I'm leaving today"

I'm actually leaving on Feb 8th, so no worries. We still have a bit of time.

I have been called to serve in the New York, New York North Mission - Spanish speaking for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (thus the Frank Sinatra: New York New York reference"

I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve and so grateful that it's time!

ɑɪlʌvmɑɪmedʒɚ. ɪfjukʌnriɾθis / θɛnjulʌvmɑɪmedʒɚtu.

Just a little message for you. If you can read this, please let me know :)

I am loving school so far this semester. I'm taking phonetics and anatomy of speech mechanisms, and doing really well in both. I know that I am in the right major because, not only do I enjoy the classes but I'm a natural. For the most part, I pick up this communicative disorders stuff so easily.

Work is going well too. I work every Friday night which puts a huge damper on the social life, but I'm surviving.

My roommates truly are the best. We are so close. It's slightly unnatural how well we get along, seeing how we didn't know each other 2 months ago.

I've got a special announcement coming up in a few weeks, but I think I'm going to keep you waiting with suspense for a while. And if you already know, no sneaking!

Jazz Hands

So this one summer, I worked at EFY and it was wonderful. I met lots and lots of great individuals. Thanks for an amazing summer everyone! Now school has started and I'm really excited about this semester. I'm taking phonetics, anatomy, history of jazz, human development, old testament (institute: make it a priority), and voice lessons. Lots of things to keep me busy.

I recently moved into a new apartment. It's an upstairs apartment in a super old school house. I call it the penthouse. I'm rooming with some super wonderful ladies Jeralyn, Dayna, and Jay. They are chipper, friendly, and easy going. With them, this year will be one to remember.

Okay, this is all good news. But the blog-breaking news is yet to come. One of the amazing people I met at EFY this summer is Kami. She and I set a goal to exercise more often. In order to start our exercise goal off right, she introduced me to this life-changing video... ENJOY!

Now that your life has been changed, I hope that you jazzercise often.

New Apartment!

My new apartment is all organized and decorated. I love my new place. My roommates are so sweet and kind. The apartment itself is really high quality. I have pictures for you! A tour, through my bedroom... my very own bedroom!

First thing, my bookshelf/drawers. Complete with approximately 10 books. Haha. My collection will grow eventually.

My super pink room that I love very muchly. Doesn't it just scream Lindsay?

Mirrored closet doors, AKA: Heaven.

Aaaand... my very own bathroom (also very pink).

Now that my room is beautified and all settled, It's EFY Season! I start this Saturday and will be in Provo until the beginning of July. Heeeere we go!

Boom! Roasted!

I like to keep my blog posts positive, but sometimes it's healthy to be negative.

I am a huge fan of The Office. It's probably my first love. There is an episode where Michael roasts his employees in the office. He says:

"Jim, you’re 6’11” and you weigh 90lbs, Gumby has a better body than you. Boom, roasted!
Dwight you’re a kiss a**. Boom roasted!
Pam you failed art school. Boom, roasted!
Meredith, you kissed so many guys you’re starting to look like one. Boom, roasted!
Kevin, I can’t decide between a fat joke and a dumb joke. Boom, roasted!
Creed, your teeth called, your breath stinks. Boom, roasted!
Angela, where’s Angela? Well there you are, I didn’t see you behind that grain of rice. Boom, roasted!
Oscar, you’re gay.
Andy, Cornell called they think you suck and you’re gayer than Oscar. Boom, roasted!"

I want to hold a roast for all the frustrations that I have now.

USU Advisors, McDonald's suits you better. Boom, roasted!
Boys, you smell. Boom, roasted!
Car, you may want to look up the definition for transportation. Boom, roasted!
School Loan, go pay yourself off. Boom, roasted!

Phew! Haha. That feels okay. Now I'm going to go write a gratitude list. ♥

Or a haircut... hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

Spring Break!

Why do I love USU? Let me count the ways... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 days of spring break definitely helps.

For spring break, I took a little trip with some friends. On the way down Emily and I had the most epic car flirting experience ever. Ready, Set, STORY!

There we are, driving in Nephi, a red car pulls up next to us and the passenger gives a little head nod. Emily and I just laugh, and then I see the Utah State sticker in the back of their car. We had to tell them we were fellow Aggies. I put on blue gloves passed out at the basketball games and we catch up to them. I do "The Scotsman" cheer as we pass. Next thing I know, they have an iPad out that says "Cedar City?"
"Nope, St. George." We manage to communicate.
The next statement we get from the iPad is, "Lunch in Fillmore?"
As fun as that would be, I'm currently taken and Emily didn't want to be the only one, so we said no. We thought that was the end, right? Nope...
Right before the Fillmore exit we get another message, "Subway in Fillmore. Hope to see you there." Again, we pass and laugh. End of story, right? Wrong again.

Likealittle.com is an interesting flirting website that is used when using words is not your style... My friends and I have recently developed an addiction to seeing what people post on this website. Lo and Behold, only a few hours after arriving in St. George we see this message. click here

Hilarious, eh? We thought so.

While in St. George we got to go to Zions, where Jenny ripped her pants (pictures available on facebook).

And to Las Vegas to see our Aggies play...

While in Vegas, we also got kicked out of two casinos. All of us passing 21 by a few years, except for little Emily. She's still 20. Lots of good times, even if we can't be on the casino floor or even in the sports lounge. Thanks for a great break guys!!

Stories

Keeping up on blogging is haaaard (said with an extremely whiny voice).

I'm sorry to friends and family that have been turning to my blog in hope of an update. Here's what's new:

I am in love with Aggie Basketball. I love the spectrum full of 10,000 people. I love the cheers. I especially love our Super Fan, Wild Bill. Not so much a fan of the actual basketball, but going to the games is a total blast.

I have mysteriously managed to burn, scratch, cut, or bruise myself at an exponentially increasing rate over the past few weeks. I've burnt my hand twice on my straightener, once on the oven; fell on the ice causing a nice bruise to form right below my knee cap; got viciously scratched during a game of basketball... I should probably just stay inside for a few days and prevent anything bad from happening.

So... Spring break is this coming week. USU gives an entire week off (Woot Woot!). I'm going to head down to St. George to enjoy the sunshine. The only downside to this adventure...(pause for effect)... I have 3 tests the week we get back to school. I know right!? 3 tests that I have to study for over this awesome week in a sunny place :( At least I'll be able to study outside!

Anyway, that's what's new...

school expenses

Just want you to know... I saved $203.89 by buying textbooks online this semester. Pretty awesome, right?

The sad thing is, I still spent $244.00. I better strengthen a lot of my brain muscles for that price!

Goals A' Plenty

I'm not one for New Year's Resolutions because they are usually just empty hopes. I am one for setting goals though. Here are my goals.

1. Read the Book of Mormon twice.
I am hoping to read it in 100 days, but promise not to get mad at myself if it takes more than that. As long as I finish it twice this year. :)

2. Don't watch so much T.V. and movies.
I watched a lot of T.V. this last semester and I've noticed differences. My laziness has increased sooo much and my acceptance of "worldly ways" has increased. Not good people! So no American Idol, no America's Next Top Model, No Office (oooo... that's a hard one).

3. 4.0 Baby!
I really want a 4.0 this semester, but I will be satisfied with a 3.7. I want to show my advisor that I'm sticking with Communicative Disorders and I think a boost in the G.P.A will do so.

4. Get Organized
I've made lists of expectations I have in organization. I have checklists and I have time-schedules. I feel that the lists will probably make me feel guilty enough to stick to it.

5. Get a Job.
I need one. Really bad. Any assistance in this department will be greatly appreciated. :)

These are my goals, not my resolutions. Let's see how I do!
